DIY Deodorizing Spray

Writer: JenJen

This is a quick and easy recipe for an effective Febreze-type spray for your home or car. I have a cat and a dog at my house plus my own daily messes and sometimes the carpet or the couches need a quick refresh. This recipe is only 4 ingredients and can be modified to fit your needs better.

Recipe:

1 cup Distilled water

1/2 cup white vinegar

1/2 TBS witch hazel

15 drops Lavender essential oil

10 drops Peppermint essential oil

10 drops Eucalyptus essential oils

Mix all the ingredients into a 16 ounce spray bottle and shake well before each use.

The distilled water is important because using tap water can lead to bacterial growth in the spray, shortening the expiration date for the mix. The customization comes in with the essential oils. I like the calming fragrance of lavender and peppermint and eucalyptus is also soothing. That is why I chose this blend. You can use whatever oils you enjoy, keep it all citrus, maybe make a spice one with clove, cinnamon and orange and so forth.

This spray can be used on any kind of fabric, couches, carpets, bedding, etc. Like any cleaner, you should try it on a small portion of the material before spraying the whole area to reduce chances of damaging the fabric. I have used it on all of the above and have had no issues of deterioration or discoloration.
