Homemade Dishwasher Tabs

Writer: JenJen

This is a quick, simple recipe to make homemade dishwasher tabs. I don't really have a reason as to why I switched to DIY dishware tabs, maybe it was just the pride in knowing that I can refill my stock without having to go to the store. It only contains 4 ingredients:

1 1/2 c washing soda (not baking soda)

3 tbs salt (kosher or iodized will work)

1/2 c water

40-45 drops of essential oils*

*you can use whatever oils you would like, but the citrus oils seem to smell great and work well. I use grapefruit or lemon and orange.

To make them, mix the washing soda and the salt, then mix the water and the oils in a separate container then add to the dry mix and stir until well combined. It is going to have a wet sand texture to it. Fill a silicon ice mold with the mixture and press so it fills each spot well. Leave it out overnight to allow to dry then store in an airtight container. Use one per load.
