Starting last summer, I was tired of spending so much money on shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shaving cream, ect. that I decided to start making my own. I also just wanted to start switching to a more natural lifestyle. The first thing I swapped out was my body wash, then my shampoo and conditioner. I have already posted my shampoo and conditioner recipes, so feel free to check those out, but this post is my body wash recipe.
I did not have to try too hard to find a body wash recipe that worked for me, the first one I found was worked well so I just tweaked it a little bit to make it my own. It is moisturizing, smells great and makes your skin feel clean and soft even after the first use! Here is the recipe:
Honey Body Wash:
1/3 cup raw, unfiltered honey
1/3 cup melted coconut oil
3/4 cup unscented liquid castile soap
1 tsp vitamin E
15 drops Lavender essential oil
5 drops Frankincense oil
Start by melting the coconut oil and mix it with the honey and Vitamin E oil. Mix in the castile soap next then add the essential oils last. Pour this into a glass or plastic bottle of your choosing and store it in the shower. Shake it well before each use and apply with whatever method you currently use.
You can use whatever brand of honey you would like, just make sure it says RAW, UNFILTERED on it, that way you guarantee that it is real honey. Same with the coconut oil, this you want to make sure it says UNREFINED.
Honey is a natural antibacterial and helps lift dirt away, coconut oil is moisturizing, lavender and frankincense smell great but also help with evening skin tone and removing bumps and blemishes from the skin.
I hope you enjoy this recipe and check out my shampoo and conditioner recipes to complete your routine!
Good for you, Jen
